Hey mama! Need a laugh? Moms Rule will make you LOL

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Moms Rule. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

You know that saying, “Laugh to keep from crying”? That’s how motherhood feels most days. In fact yesterday evening, we had given our daughters their bedtime snacks. Annie dropped hers on the kitchen floor, after I had told her to watch where she was going. *sigh* Clean it up, move on. But then she tripped over her feet heading to the living room, and, boom, mess on the floor. *sigh* Pick it up, move on. She gets to the living room and wants to sit with me, and as she reaches to get in my lap, that’s right, the snack goes everywhere. At this point, it’s just funny, because, well, the universe is already laughing at me.

And so it is that I found Stephanie Blum and her Moms Rule YouTube series, which pretty much covers the insanity, hilarity and downright crazy of being a mom. But the great thing about watching Stephanie is that not only do I laugh out loud, but she reminds me that, hey, I am soooooo not alone in this rickety leaking boat.

It’s the Mom Life

Now you know that if my site has the word “deranged” in it, we don’t take ourselves too seriously. But, come on. Kids? They will make you realize that life is nothing but silly. Recently, I was having the girls try on their swimsuits so I could determine if they still fit or if I need to get them new ones for the summer. Leelou, the newly minted 3 year old, had put on the bottoms of her 2 piece tankini, and I told her to turn around so I could check her bottom. She turned around, started shaking her little bottom and said gleefully, “Shake yer booty!” I couldn’t help but laugh, which only made her do it more.

Or then there’s Annie, the 4 year old, who is starting to learn what’s funny and what isn’t. Well, sort of. “Knock, knock,” she says. “Who’s there?” I reply. “Knock, knock tater tot!” Um…well, it was funny because her face made it funny. One of her funniest ongoing schticks is to squish her blueberries, but while she’s doing it, use a funny voice to say, “No, no, please! We’re the good guys! Don’t squish us!” She does the same for peas, but let’s face it: peas deserve to be squished.

My point is that for every crayon mark on the walls and floors, and for every muddy shoe that makes it onto the carpet, there are so many more funny and warm fuzzy moments. You are not alone. And sure, you can get mad at the kids, but let’s face it: we were kids once, too. What you need to do is check out Moms Rule, a funny and highly irreverent web series on YouTube that exposes (gasp!) all our mom secrets while making you laugh out loud! There’s a variety of mom comedians sharing thoughts that we have but don’t always say out loud. It’s a great connection and lets you know that you’re not alone in this journey, and your problems are not unique. Trust me, if you are effing exhausted, you are not alone. If you just want to hide in your closet, you are not alone.

In fact, she was so brilliant, she was spotted by producers who signed her to be in a new comedy series on TLC called, “What She Said.” Which, by the way, is one of the greatest lines of all time from a TV show, and thanks to Michael Scott/Steve Carrell, it will have a long and happy life in our daily vocabulary.

Want to catch a sneak peek of the new show? It will air during TLC’s “Mother of All Weeks” leading up to Mother’s Day. The “What She Said” sneak peek will air Sunday, May 10th at 11pm EST/10pm CST on TLC.
